David Akers is a machine, he is as close to an "automatic" as one can find. Boasting the 2nd best career field goal percentage in NFL history and more field goals than any other Eagle kicker, Akers has earned this. Further, he he is a Philly type of kicker who loves to go after a kick returner with reckless abandon rather than prance around like most kickers.
The fact is that he makes less than many other players but is super important to the Eagles. His salary is $1.02 million so we aren't talking about millions of dollars more like TO, a few hundred thousand would allow the Eagles to show their appreciation...
Heck, Akers is probably the 4th most important player after McNabb, Westbrook and TO -C'mon guys let's get this resolved.
